Watching the "Tour De France"

I guess anyone that is a cycling nut like myself has been keeping an eye on "Le Tour" these last few weeks.  How crazy has it been huh?  Today Andy Schlek crushed Alberto Contador and the rest of the peloton on the climb up to the top of the Galibier. It's been the most exciting day of a totally awesome Tour this year.

I have been trying to use the Tour this year as an inspiration to ride more and have tried to envision myself on some of those roads riding next to the tour favorites....I said envision.  I don't have any delusions of grandeur.  The first couple of weeks I was able to ride mostly every afternoon and even managed to get in several morning rides a week.  This inspired me to eat better and to ride even more.  I managed to drop quite a few pounds during this time frame but as luck would have it during my ride last Saturday I stopped to fix a flat and when I bent over to pull the quick release on my front wheel I felt a "pop" in my back.  This was something new to me.  It hurt like hell and I could not move very well.  I managed, with the help of a couple of buddies to fix the flat and limp back home.  I am hoping I will be able to get back on the road literally and metaphorically this coming Saturday.  I have found it very hard to follow a good diet while I have been off the bike.  Riding really centers me and allows me to feel good about myself.  I guess because I am doing something good "for" myself.

Just between you and me folks, I believe Cadel Evans won the tour today.  I guess we'll have to wait and see on that one this weekend.

May your wheels always be true,
the wind always at your back and
the road always just slightly downhill.

Superfat.
