Went to Union City, GA this weekend to do the road race part of the Union City Mayor's Race. It was fun to watch the criteriums on Saturday. In hind-site I really should have done those. Sunday's road race was allot hillier than what I would have expected in that part of Georgia but I lined up and rolled out with my group and not too long after we got into the serious climbs I found myself off the back of the main group. This did not bother me too much as I knew I am not in real "race shape" my any stretch of the imagination. I was able to hang in there with results that I was fairly happy with...all things considered. I finished a few minutes behind my group and am happy to say that the CAT5 group that started 5 minutes behind me did not catch up to me thank God. All in all a good training day and it was good to be back out on the road again. I've got a long way to go before I am back to where I need to be to get anywhere near a podium again but I am optimistic and finally again well motivated to get there.

May your wheels always be true,
the wind always at your back and
the road always just slightly downhill.

Time to attempt to start again.....I am even more out of shape than I was last year but I believe my resolve to finally pull myself together and get myself back on the right track is stronger than it has been in the past.  If interested in my posts let me know.  It will be encouraging.

Thursday Ride

Yesterday ended up being a wonderful afternoon to get out and really sweat.  It was not all that humid and with the little breeze that was blowing across the lake my turnaround point was awesome.  I took the time to take a couple of pictures when I stopped for a moment at Real Island to share.

And then another one facing toward the other side of the causeway.  I really like the pontoon boat that has been made up to look like an old paddle wheel steamer.  Sorry about the resolution but my phone does not always make the best camera.
All in all I got in a terrific workout and was able to put the hurt on some calories and still made it home well before dark.  It feels awesome to know my fitness is returning and that soon I'll be able take the new rig out for some racing.  Look out for me next season!

Tomorrow is going to be a longer day in the saddle and may offer up some more opportunities to post some new pictures.  So until then enjoy your evening and have a great weekend.
Until next time,

May your wheels always be true,
the wind always at your back and
the road always just slightly downhill.
